Dr. Michael Scheuermann Receives 2011 NDLW Award
On November 8, Dr. Michael Scheuermann was recognized with the 2011 College of Engineering “Outstanding Online Instructor” Award, which is given as part of National Distance Learning Week at Drexel University. This award is presented to individuals that have made a significant contribution to the field of distance/online learning, and Dr. Scheuermann has proved this to be the case over his distinguished career.
Currently, Dr. Scheuermann is an Associate Vice President of Information Resources and Technology. He originates and teaches a core course in the Engineering Management Online Masters Degree program – EGMT 581, Problems in Human Relations. This course is focused on providing advanced masters degree candidates with the critical skills necessary to address human resource aspects of managing technology-intensive organizations.
Dr. Scheuermann has continually sought innovative approaches in the online environment so that the pedagogical and intellectual experience of an online student closely matches the experiences of a student in a live classroom. He has facilitated online graduate-level courses for over 10 years in the LeBow College of Business, the College of Engineering, the School of Education, and the College of Medicine. To date as an adjunct he has taught 56 sections with 973 students.
In addition, Mike serves on many University committees including the Strategic Planning Committee for 2012-2017, the Online Learning Council, the Academic Computer Advisory committee (Chair), and the Library Advisory Committee.
