Student Organizations are a wonderful way to get involved with other students, faculty and community members who share your interests and career goals. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, as well at the College of Engineering, hosts numerous student organizations, some of them reflecting larger national or international professional organizations and some which are unique to our college.
Membership in the honor societies are by invitation only and is based on academic merit. Student membership in the professional organizations are available to students who are in accredited programs that relate to that of the mission of the professional organization.
Drexel University IEEE Student Branch
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at Drexel University focuses on professional development issues for student members. Members may participate in a variety of events including technical speaker meetings, social events, recruiting opportunities, and technical design contests.
Drexel IEEE Graduate (DIG) Forum
An IEEE Graduate Student organization that "promotes fundemental and application engineering practices for the advancement of technology."
Drexel University Eta Kappa Nu Student Chapter
Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) is a nationwide electrical and computer engineering honor society. The local chapter at Drexel University, the Beta Alpha Chapter, is an active student organization in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and in the Philadelphia community.
Drexel University Tau Beta Pi: Engineering Honor Society
Founded in 1930, Pennsylvania Zeta is the Tau Beta Pi chapter at Drexel University. Juniors and Seniors from approved curricula of the College of Engineering and the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health Systems who meet the requirements of academic excellence and exemplary character are eligible to be elected into the Pennsylvania Zeta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
Drexel University Society for Women in Engineering (SWE)
SWE is a non-profit educational service organization dedicated to making known the need for women engineers and encouraging young women to consider an engineering education.
Drexel University Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
The NSBE Mission is "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community."
Drexel University Chapter of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers
The purpose of SASE Drexel is to create an encouraging environment in which Drexel University students from the Asian community can develop professionally for careers in the fields of science and engineering through networking, skill-building, and campus and community involvement. This Chapter seeks to address the challenges that professionals of Asian heritage may encounter in their careers through workshops, seminars, and mentorship.
Drexel University Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)
SHPE Drexel Chapter of SHPE was founded by a group of students in all varies of engineering who wanted to create an organization that fostered the Hispanic community in the university in addition to creating networks between the their members and corporations.
