Who are my ECE Academic Advisors? Where is the ECE Advising Office?

The ECE Undergraduate Advisors for ECE pre-juniors, juniors and seniors are Dr. Timothy Kurzweg, ECE Associate Dept. Head of Undergraduate Studies, and Amy Ruymann, Associate Director and Advising. The ECE Advising Office is in the Bossone Building on the 3rd floor in Room 313.

All freshmen, sophomore, and entering transfers are seen by the advisors located in the College of Engineering's Undergraduate Advising Center located in University Crossings, Room 155.

When is the ECE Advising Office open?

The ECE Advising Office is open from 8 am-5pm every day. The ECE Student Advisor Walk-in Hours are Mon-Fri 1:30-2:30 pm. You can schedule an appointment by calling 215-895-2241 or emailing advising@ece.drexel.edu.

What courses do I need for a BS CE degree?

Your ECE GPA must be a 2.0 or higher. This ECE GPA is based on your grades in your ECE and ECEX courses.

How many credits do I need to graduate with a BS EE or BS CE degree?

You need 192 credits to receive your BS EE or BS CE degree.

How do I apply for graduation?

In order to be considered a degree candidate, you must have an Application for Degree form filed via DrexelOne by the deadline for the term in which you intend to graduate.

Students who have not completed their requirements by the end of their final Spring term may be eligible to attend the commencement ceremony.

What is an ECE elective?

An ECE elective is any ECEX 300 or 400 level course which includes ECEC, ECEE, ECEP, ECES.

Can ECE Electives be fulfilled by courses outside of the ECE Department?

Yes. You can take courses in other College of Engineering departments, the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, or Computer Science courses from the College of Computing and Informatics as long as the courses are 300-400 level courses. A maximum of 12 credits of ECE electives can be taken outside of the ECE Department.

Please receive pre-approval from your ECE advisor for any electives outside of the ECE Department.

When is the deadline to drop/withdraw from classes?

During the first two (2) weeks of the term a student can drop a course. Students taking a course during co-op cannot drop themselves from a course and must email their advisor to drop a course over co-op. This must be done before the end of week 2. The first day of week three (3) to the last Friday in Week seven (7) is the deadline to withdraw from a course(s). All students must submit a withdrawal form to the ECE Advisor signed by their instructor.

Students who have received federal financial aid or loans (Work Study, Perkins, PLUS and Stafford Loans) may be impacted by the decision to withdraw from the institution. The federal government requires that students who receive aid or loans make satisfactory academic progress (SAP). Please refer to Drexel Central for more information.

What is Academic Probation?

An undergraduate student will be placed on academic probation when either the term or cumulative GPA falls below 2.00. Students on probation must meet with their academic advisor to develop an academic plan and establish GPA goals. Please refer to the Office of the Provost Academic Polices on Undergraduate Academic Standing and Probation Policy Academic Probation.

What is Academic Dismissal?

An undergraduate student will be dismissed from the University when his/her term GPA falls below a 2.00 for three (3) consecutive terms or if the term GPA is below a 1.0 for any given term. Please refer to the Office of the Provost Academic Polices on Undergraduate Academic Standing and Probation Policy Dismissed.

Can I take a Leave of Absence from Drexel?

Please contact your ECE academic advisor to initiate a Leave of Absence and to discuss the impacts associated with taking a leave on your course and program progression. Your ECE advisor will assist you in completing the required paperwork. We ask that you indicate the reason for taking a leave as well as the term and year that you plan to return to the university. After your request has been fully evaluated, you will receive an email with additional instructions on how to finalize your change. All students are required to consult with a Drexel Central representative on the billing and financial aid implications associated with leaving the university. International students are required to inform a representative of the International Students and Scholars Services of their decision to leave the institution.

How can I withdraw from Drexel University?

After your request has been fully evaluated, you will receive an email with additional instructions on how to finalize your change.
