Absentee Ballot Extension for some Counties
Governor Corbett signed the attached executive order on November 1 extending the deadline for counties to receive voted absentee ballots until Monday, November 5 at 5 p.m. on a county-by-county basis.
The deadline will be extended for voters in any county in which the office of the board of elections was closed to the public due to Hurricane Sandy, at any time during regularly-scheduled business hours, the week of Oct. 29.
The governor earlier this week extended the deadline for county election offices to receive absentee ballot applications by one day for each day a county election board office was closed because of the effects of the storm.
“This action by Gov. Corbett will give all voters who must use absentee ballots additional opportunity to cast a ballot,” said Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele, whose department oversees elections. Aichele noted voters may mail absentee ballots to their county election office, or deliver the ballot in person.
