2009-10 Tuition and Fee Guidelines

All students will be billed when registration occurs. If you adjust your schedule after billing has occurred you will receive an adjusted bill in the next billing period.

All undergraduate, part-time, Evening College, and graduate students will be billed based on their level (undergraduate or graduate) and by the college offering the course.

Full-time undergraduate students are charged annual tuition & fees based on your major and the cumulative credits you've earned, which determines your classification (i.e. Freshman, Senior).

The following is the credit/classification table:

Classification Cumulative Credits
Freshman 0.0 - 39.5
Sophomore/Pre-Junior 40.0 - 96.0
Junior 96.5 - 129.5
Senior 130.0+

The annual tuition is divided by the number of terms your entitled to attend classes and participate in the cooperative experience during the academic year, provided you follow the normal attendance schedule.  Additionally, in order to enhance the connection with the university, subject to course availability and academic advisor approval, while on CO-OP, students may take up to four (4) credit hours at no additional charge. Please note that registration for these courses will open one week prior to the start of the quarter.

Normal Attendance Schedule

The normal attendance schedule means attending classes during class quarters and participating in CO-OP when scheduled to be participating in CO-OP. The normal scheduled attendance cycles are displayed on the grid below:

Setting the Normal Attendance Schedule Cycle

The normal scheduled attendance cycle is set during the fall quarter or first quarter of enrollment of the academic year. The normal scheduled attendance cycle may be changed through the end of the drop/add period in the fall quarter. Changes made after the drop/add period in the fall quarter will set your normal scheduled attendance cycle for the following year.

Financial Impact of Not Attending According to the Normal Scheduled Attendance Cycle

Any deviation from the normal attendance schedule may result in additional tuition and fee charges. Attending classes during scheduled CO-OP experience participation will result in extra term charges (additional tuition and fees for every credit hour over the four credit hours allowed). Additionally, changing from the normal attendance cycle may reduce your financial aid. Since the normal scheduled attendance cycle is set in the fall quarter and changes may result in extra term charges, it is usually advantageous for changes to be made effective at the beginning of an academic year.

The following are the common events that may have an impact upon tuition and fee charges:

  • Changes in the normal attendance schedule cycle
  • Changes in major
  • Attendance over the 20 credit hour limit during class terms
  • Attendance over the 4 credit hour limit during CO-OP terms
  • Attendance during a vacation term
  • Attendance in a study abroad program
  • Attendance at less than fulltime (12 credit hours)

Coverage Exclusions

Credit hours in excess of twenty hours per scheduled class quarter are billed at the credit hour rate. Credit hours in excess of four hours per scheduled CO-OP quarter are billed at the credit hour rate with the exception of online courses. Any online course taken while on CO-OP will be billed at the per credit hour rate. Credit hours taken during vacation or nonscheduled quarters will be billed at the credit hour rate for all hours less than twelve and at the full-time rate for credit hours between twelve and twenty; credit hours in excess of twenty hours are billed at the credit hour rate. Study abroad terms and courses are not included in the standard annual tuition and fees. Some courses and/or programs of study may have charges in addition to the standard tuition and fees.
