Jason Varney '01 is a Philadelphia based photographer who has been shooting food, travel and lifestyle photos for over a decade. His photographs have appeared in numerous publications including Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, GQ and The New York Times. The exhibition was made possible with the generous support of Hazem D. Drexel Picture Gallery for a prohibition tea party and lecture to celebrate our current exhibition Holding Your Drink: 3,000 Years of Drinking Vessels from the Drexel and Salzberg Collections. Lloyd Ackert, PhD, an associate teaching professor in the College of Arts and Sciences’ department of history and director of the Emerging Scholars Program, will highlight objects displayed in the exhibition to explore the relationship between their aesthetic properties as well as their historical context.

The exhibition displays drinking vessels from around the world and explores their multiple functions, materials and ritual meanings. The exhibition was curated by students in the 2017 "Exhibitions and Programming" class of Drexel's Graduate Museum Leadership Program.

Award-winning photojournalist, Earl Dotter, will be giving a lecture on his current exhibitions in Drexel's Rincliffe Gallery and his work as an occupational and environmental photographer. Earl Dotter will be speaking about his earliest artistic influences at the School of Visual Arts in New York from 1967-1968, and how it lead him to focus his camera upon the lives of working Americans from then up to present day. This lecture will provide the audience with an illustrated view of the trajectory of his photography career.
