Bread & Roses Community Fund

Are you a person who wants to address the root causes of poverty, racism and injustice? Do you believe that too few people control too many resources in our society, leaving others without opportunity or hope? Bread & Roses Community Fund shares your beliefs. Together, we can make big changes happen.

Take part in the process of change! When you give to Bread & Roses you join thousands of people who want to create a society that gives everyone a fair chance. Your contribution enables us to distribute more than $300,000 each year to groups working on issues you care about: access to healthcare, quality education, an end to homelessness, criminal justice reform, peace and human rights and environmental protection.

We believe that the most effective decisions come from people who live with the same challenges, real-world problems and decisions that you face everyday. Because of this, funding decisions are made by community members from neighborhoods in the counties that we fund.

Here are just a few recent accomplishments
of Bread & Roses grantees:

  • Raise the minimum wage for workers in Pennsylvania from $5.15 to $7.15;
  • Pass city legislation for a $15 million trust for low and moderate income housing;
  • Secure a commitment for Philadelphia School District officials to create small schools to boost student achievements;
  • Increased access to affordable AIDS medications in the Delaware Valley and worldwide;
  • Register more than 80,000 new voters in the Philadelphia area and generate record high voter turnout.
