Prescription Drug Misuse Risk Behaviors Among Young Injection Drug Users

kristen johnsonDr. Kristen Johnson (right), a graduate of the doctoral program in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, is the lead author on a new article titled "Prescription Drug Misuse and Risk Behaviors Among Young Injection Drug Users," published online in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs. Coauthors include Dr. Stephen Lankenau, Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health and Prevention; Meghan Fibbi, MPH'11; Debra Langer, DrPH student in the Department of Community Health and Prevention; and Karol Silva, a former staff member in the Department of Community Health and Prevention.

This article reports on a study using descriptive quantitative and qualitative data to look at injection of illicit drugs and sexual risks associated with the misuse of prescription drugs. This study is supported by Dr. Lankenau’s R01 from the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
