Equality & Diversity

The Office of Equality and Diversity (OED) is committed to promoting, supporting, and providing resources to sustain a living, learning, and working environment of diversity, equality, fairness, inclusion, and respect where all members of the University community feel valued.

OED facilitates workshops, programs, and discussions that foster a welcoming University community of inclusion and respect. OED also coordinates and oversees the Employee Ambassador Program, the workshop entitled: Diversity Works: A Skill-Based Approach to Working with Differences, The Book Circle at the James E. Marks Intercultural Center, and the weekly Coffee and Culture series.

OED oversees the University’s Equality and Non-Discrimination policy and is responsible for ensuring that the University complies with its own policies and with federal, state, and local laws prohibiting discrimination and harassment based upon race; color; religion; gender; pregnancy; national origin; age; disability; sexual orientation, gender identity and expression; and veteran status. Whenever possible, OED utilizes conflict resolution processes, including conflict coaching and mediation, to address complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
