About the Debate
Drexel University is honored to welcome the Democratic Presidential Candidates Debate to our historic campus and to the city of Philadelphia, the birthplace of American democracy.
The Debate at Drexel, the fourth of six debates sanctioned by the Democratic National Committee, is sponsored by NBC, MSNBC, the Democratic National Committee and Drexel University. The last time a presidential candidates debate occurred in Pennsylvania was 1976, when President Gerald Ford debated Democratic candidate Jimmy Carter in Philadelphia's Walnut Street Theater.
The debate will be broadcast live by MSNBC from 9 to 11 p.m. and streamed on MSNBC.com and Drexel.edu. The debate will also be re-broadcast by Telemundo for the Spanish-speaking audience.
This debate reflects Drexel's mission of education, public service and civic engagement and serves as a kick-off for Drexel Votes 2008, the University's new election-year initiative. Throughout the electoral process, Drexel will hold seminars on democracy and host non-partisan events focusing on topics such as candidate analysis, student voter participation and technology's impact on elections.
