Transfer Student Testimonials

Janelle Joseph

I thought that my transition to Drexel University would be difficult. But it was made easier, when I decided to live on campus. I registered with Drexel Housing only a few days before classes. The staff members were extremely helpful, and even stayed on the phone with me until I was officially registered online. The process was simple. What I didn't know was that my easy transition wouldn't end there. I was assigned in a suite with other transfer students. We had one major thing in common; we were all new to Drexel. Being a transfer student was intimidating, but knowing that I wasn't alone made things easier. Housing assigned us with floor mates that were from other schools across the country. The relaxed environment and reliable service made the transition comforting for me even before classes began. It was then that Drexel University became my home, away from home. Drexel has opened a lot of opportunities for me and I would love for someone else to take advantage of the "Drexel Experience" as I did.

Justin Wilcott

I was placed on the eleventh floor of Van R with two really great roommates (also transfers). I think an atmosphere made up of transfers helped my transition to Drexel because we were all in the same boat. It was easy to get a long and share stories because there weren't any established relationships I was competing with. We were able to explore Philadelphia with the same excitement as freshmen, but with the maturity of upperclassmen. Finally if we needed guidance from someone with Drexel experience, our RA was there to help with that.

Stephanie Lugo

Hello my name is Stephanie Lugo and Drexel is the second University I have transferred to. Through my experiences as a transfer student I have realized that being able to live on campus is really valuable. As a transfer student it can feel intimidating to start over; adapt to a new culture, new friends, and finding a place to live. During my first term at Drexel I commuted. I found it difficult to fully use the resources available at Drexel. I found myself only going back home to sleep. That is when I realized that commuting and being a transfer student can be rough, I had no time to mingle or network. Until, I moved onto campus housing. Living at Drexel has made it so much more convenient. Living in a residence hall has a greater advantage than any other apartment near campus. It was easier to meet new people which allowed me to make new friends, network and get involved. I was consistently aware of organizations and different events going on around campus. This has truly been a great experience; I would advise for upperclassmen/ transfer students to take advantage of on campus housing so that they may truly experience Drexel.

Completing the MyHousing Application

The Housing Application may be edited until July 1, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. (Except the selection of a College Learning Community or Honors College). Editing the application does not remove the student from their "place in line" for a Time Ticket.

Selecting Roommates via Preferred Roommate Selection

On the MyHousing application, each student will complete a required Living Style Questionnaire. This short survey can be used to help search for a potential roommate. Students can also update their Roommate Profile; including the ability remove themselves from being searched in the roommate process. Transfer students may be assigned with other incoming transfer students or returning students. University Housing will utilize the Living Style Questionnaire to prepare assignments.

Students have several options when searching for roommates in MyHousing

  • Search for a specific student using their Last Name and their Web Screen Name
(which is defined by the student on the housing application).
  • Browse for roommates by selecting answers to the Living Style Questionnaire
  • Browse roommates who match the Living Style Questionnaire
  • Participation in the Roommate Profile is optional
  • Students must mutually confirm each other.
For example, if Bruce requests Clark, Clark must re-log back into MyHousing to confirm Bruce.
  • The Preferred Roommate Selection page may be edited until Sunday, July 1, 2012
