New Freshmen and Transfer Student FAQ
What will I use my DragonCard for once I'm on campus?
Your DragonCard is the only card you'll need once you are on campus:
- Access to your residence hall, recreation center, library, and other buildings on campus
- Dining Plans and Dining Dollars are loaded onto the DragonCard
- Pay for products and services and local merchants with your DragonCard via DragonDollars
- Check out laptops and tablets at the Hagerty Library and Creese Student Center Information Desk
- Print at Korman Computing Center and all library printing kiosks
When do I get my DragonCard?
DragonCards will be distributed to new freshmen and transfer students during the Fall 2015 Orientation program. A valid, government issued photo-ID (such as a Driver's License or Passport) is required to pick-up your DragonCard.
I will be on campus this summer, can I pick up my DragonCard at that time?
Incoming freshmen and transfer students who are starting at Drexel University in Fall 2015 and may be on campus this summer may pick up their DragonCard at that time during regular DragonCard Office hours after July 1, 2015.
Is there a fee for the DragonCard?
The first DragonCard is issued at no charge to the student. There is a fee for all replacement DragonCards. Replacement fees may be paid in cash, DragonDollars, or debit/credit; this is not chargeable to the student's tuition bill.
Do I get a new DragonCard every year?
No, although the DragonCard does need to be validated each year. Cards which are issued between July 2015 and December 2015 will be due for validation in September, 2016. Do NOT discard your DragonCard after your first year!
Am I required to upload my photo ahead of time?
We strongly encourage all incoming students to upload their photo ahead of their arrival in the Fall. This will help to make your Check-In day run smoothly. Plus, you won't have to take a picture in the office while you're moving in! Be sure to visit the Photo Upload Tips page to learn about the types of photos we can accept ahead of time. You will receive an auto-email to your Drexel e-mail address once your photo is accepted.
