Independent Study or Project
An Independent Study or Independent Project is required for completion of the M.S. in Publication Management.
For the Independent Study, students may choose an area of publishing to investigate that is not covered by the other courses offered in the program. Students may suggest a topic to the program coordinator, Joan Blumberg, at any time. Topics must be approved in advance of registration by the coordinator and the faculty member involved. Undergraduate courses may not be taken for independent study credit.
Students may also choose to do an Independent Project. The project must be related to the printing and publishing industries and must be designed, under faculty advisement, to meet the student’s individual interests and career goals.
A proposal for both the Independent Study and Independent Project is required and should be submitted for approval before the start of the term in which the course will be taken. Students may obtain a proposal form from the department office.
