All students in the M.S. Communication program are required to complete a 6-month internship or equivalent (for example, a student could do 2 three-month placements).
The internship requirement can be waived if you have full-time work experience in the field. To request a waiver, contact the graduate director, Dr. Ernest Hakanen. You will need to fill out the waiver and attach a memo documenting your work experience.
While the program will try to help with internship placement, students should expect to research and find suitable internship positions on their own as well. Note that some internships (e.g. NIH) require applications many months before starting dates.
