Cap and Gown
To attend your ceremony, it is required that you wear the appropriate academic regalia. Regalia consists of a gown, cap and hood, which reflect the degree being conferred. Regalia must be obtained from the University Bookstore (Creese Student Center, 32nd and Chestnut Streets, for University City Campus students; Bellet Building, 15th and Race Streets, for Center City Campus students). Your DragonCard is required when making an in-person regalia purchase. If you do not have a DragonCard, a temporary card can be obtained from the DragonCard Office 215.895.6095 or DragonCard@drexel.edu. Buy Your Own
If you are a bachelor's or master's degree candidate, you must purchase your regalia through the University Bookstore. To do so, visit the Bookstore with your student I.D. during the sales period, May 21-June 13. Graduation announcements will also be available for purchase. In addition, customized graduation announcements can be purchased from Herff Jones.

Regalia must be purchased by June 5 to guarantee receipt of tickets to your Commencement ceremony. See Tickets for more details.
For Doctoral Candidates Only
Students receiving a doctoral degree must obtain their regalia through the University Bookstore. There are three options:
- Rent your regalia (cap, gown, hood and tassel). The rental price for the set is $73.98. Order forms must be completed in the University Bookstore or by phone by May 16. After this date, contact the University Bookstore and they will assist graduating students on a case-by-case basis. Distribution will take place on June 9-13.
- Rent your cap gown and tassel and purchase your hood as a keepsake. The price for this option is $208.93. Order/purchase form must be completed in the University Bookstore or by phone by April 30. After this date, contact the University Bookstore and they will help you with these purchases on a base-by-case basis.
- Purchase a custom Drexel doctoral gown, tam and hood through the University Bookstore. The price for this option is $857.95. Deadline is April 30. After this date, contact the University Bookstore and they will help you with these purchases on a base-by-case basis.
If you are unable to visit the bookstore in person
Any degree candidates that are unable to pick up their regalia on campus, should call the University Bookstore (215-895-2860) to order their regalia by phone. This must be done during the regular sales period, May 21-June 13. The bookstore will ship the regalia directly to you.
College of Medicine
All students participating in Commencement are required to wear appropriate academic regalia.
Biomedical graduates will wear Keepsake™ regalia, which may be purchased at the Center City Hahnemann Campus bookstore.
The Office of Professional Studies in the Health Sciences will pay for the regalia of OPSHS graduates. You will be contacted via email when your order is ready for pick up in the bookstore.
If you cannot make it to the bookstore to pick up your regalia, you can call 215-762-7629 to have it shipped to you. Shipping is $6.95 for standard UPS Ground.
Regalia for M.D. graduates will be distributed at the Queen Lane campus immediately following the Dean's Hour Awards Program on May 14. If you are unable to attend the program and would like to pick up regalia earlier, please contact the Queen Lane Medical Campus bookstore before April 20.
School of Law
The rental of your graduation regalia is done through the Drexel Bookstore. Please go to the bookstore to place your order. For your convenience, here is the J.D. Candidate Rental Form.
Graduates will wear “black tams” rather than mortar boards. These tams will be provided to you “without a rental fee” compliments of the Dean. Your regalia, including the tam, must be returned following the Commencement Ceremony at The Kimmel Center.
