Policies & Procedures: Students Having Academic Difficulty

Should a student perform poorly, he or she may be placed on academic probation or dismissed from the College of Engineering.

An undergraduate student will be placed on academic probation when either the term or cumulative GPA falls below 2.00. Probation requires that a student meet with his or her academic advisor to discuss the difficulties that are occurring. The advisor and student will explore strategies for improvement.

An undergraduate student will be dismissed from the University when his/her term or cumulative GPA falls below the 2.00 standard for three (3) consecutive terms.

Students who earn a term or cumulative GPA below 1.00, not including their first term at Drexel, may be automatically dismissed from the University. That is, they are subject to dismissal without the benefit of a probationary period.

If a student wishes to pursue reinstatement, the student must meet with the College of Engineering Committee on Academic Standing. The rules on Academic Standing are listed at the following website http://www.drexel.edu/provost/policies/academic_standing.asp.
