The Program 2010 PROGRAM DATES: Sunday July 11th – Saturday July 31st, 2010 Introduction: The College of Engineering Summer Mentorship Program is a dynamic, three-week research experience that provides high school students with a unique opportunity to work in a Drexel laboratory on an individualized research project. In addition to the educational experience that research provides, students will also gain a competitive edge in the college application office and foster relationships with their faculty mentors as well as like-minded high school students. Housing: Students will stay in a suite-style Drexel residence hall. Each suite can accommodate four or six people and is complete with a kitchen, common area, and bathroom. Current staff members will serve as Resident Advisors for the students throughout the length of their stay. Meals: Most meals will be provided. Students will also receive Ultima Funds on their Drexel ID cards, which are accepted at many locations on and around campus. Activities: Past activities include a sightseeing tour of Philadelphia, going to a Phillies game, and trips to the Philadelphia Art Museum, the Franklin Institute, and Atlantic City. Application: Participants in the Summer Mentorship program will be chosen through a highly selective application process including essays, grades, one letter of recommendation, and an interview. To begin the application process, complete the online application no later than March 15 and submit all supplemental materials by April 1. The top applicants will be contacted to schedule interviews. All decisions will be made and all students will be contacted by May 1. For more information, contact mentorship@coe.drexel.edu. |
