Special: Accelerated: B.S./M.D.

Drexel’s B.A./B.S./M.D. program offers motivated, mature high school students the chance to earn a combined bachelor’s and doctor of medicine degree in only seven years—three years of undergraduate study followed by four years of medical school. Though pre-med students typically major in engineering or biology, the program is open to all majors.

Drexel offers the same opportunities to its B.A./B.S./M.D. students as it offers to its other undergraduate and medical students. B.A./B.S./M.D. students enrolled in the College of Engineering will still participate in Drexel’s world-renowned engineering curriculum, or tDEC. And with advanced planning, students can also take advantage of Drexel’s outstanding research and co-op opportunities that students at other universities can only dream about.

Aware that the B.A./B.S./M.D program is demanding, Drexel’s Office of Enrollment Management suggests that students applying for the dual degree program should exhibit maturity, stability, scholarship, flexibility, compassion, curiosity, and a record of service to others. The program is also highly competitive, with only eight students accepted each year. For more information on the admissions and program requirements for the B.A./B.S./M.D. program, please view the Admissions fact sheet available at http://www.drexel.edu/ecm/ugsite/undergrad/webPDFs/1985BA_BS_MD.pdf.

The application deadline for the B.A./B.S./M.D. program is December
1st of the student’s senior year. Questions about the undergraduate
portion of the program and application requests should be directed
toward the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 1-800-2-DREXEL or
enroll@drexel.edu. The College of Medicine’s Office of Admissions can
answer questions about the medical school portion of the program. They
can be reached at (215) 991-8202 or medadmis@drexel.edu. More
information on Drexel’s B.A./B.S./M.D. program can also be found at http://www.drexel.edu/em/undergrad/academics/preprofhealth/accelerated_degrees.html.

Drexel also offers an Early Assurance Program for students who might not have been ready to commit to pursuing a career in medicine while still in high school. This program grants pre-admission to Drexel’s College of Medicine to twelve students who have completed one year of undergraduate coursework at Drexel University. More information on Drexel’s Early Assurance Program can be found at http://www.drexel.edu/em/undergrad/academics/preprofhealth/early_assurance.html.
