Progress Energy CEO to Speak at Drexel University on Energy and Global Sustainability at Dean’s Distinguished Lecture
Jeffrey Lyash, President and CEO of Progress Energy Florida, will deliver a lecture at Drexel University on May 15, 2009, on the importance of energy and global sustainability.

Drexel University’s College of Engineering will host Jeffrey Lyash, President and Chief Executive Officer of Progress Energy Florida and a distinguished alumnus of Drexel’s mechanical engineering class at the 3rd Annual Dean’s Distinguished Lecture May 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the William F. Mitchell Auditorium (Market Street between 31st and 32nd Streets). Mr. Lash will speak on the importance of energy and global sustainability.

Mr. Lyash began working at Progress Energy in 1993. He spent his first eight years with Progress Energy working at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant where he became the Director of Site Operations. Prior to becoming President and Chief Executive Officer at Progress Energy, Mr. Lyash served as Senior Vice President of Energy Delivery where he managed customer service regions and the Distribution Operations & Support function in Florida.

The College of Engineering’s Annual Dean’s Distinguished Lecture hosts individuals who have made a significant impact in the fields of engineering, science and technology. Previous speakers have included Richard Clark, Chairman, President and CEO of Merck & Co., Inc. and Leon Lederman, 1988 Nobel Laureate in Physics.
