ECE Names New Department Head

Moshe KamDr. Moshe Kam (Robert G. Quinn Professor) has been name Department Head for the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department in the College of Engineering.  Dr. Kam has been a faculty member of the college since 1986 after completing his M.S. and Ph.D. with the Drexel ECE Department.  He is an internationally recognized authority on multi-sensor architectures and team decision processes, and has developed research programs in pattern recognition, information assurance and mobile robots.

Dr. Kam has served the ECE department in a number of capacities through the years; as a member of the Student Recruitment Committee, the Chairman of the Faculty Recruiting Committee, and the Assistant Department Head for Development.  His awards include the Third Millennium Medal from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), an IEEE Fellow designation, a Presidential Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation, and the C. Holmes MacDonald Award for the Outstanding Young Electrical Engineering Educator.  His professional association appointments include IEEE Vice President for Educational Activities.

Dr. Kam assumed his new role beginning July 1, 2007. Prior to Dr. Kam, Dr. Nihat Bilgutay led the ECE department for 11 of his 26 years with Drexel. For more information on the Drexel College of Engineering ECE Department, please visit www.ece.drexel.edu/.
