"Dividing Diatoms"

The College
of Engineering is pleased to welcome Dee Breger as the Director of Microscopy
in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Breger joins Drexel
from Columbia University, where she was the manager of the SEM/EDX Facility
at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.
Breger earned her B.S. in
art from the University of Wisconsin. She has specialized in scanning
electron microscopy (SEM) from its inception, and her microscopy work
has won numerous awards and been featured in her book, Journeys in
Microspace. Most recently, one of her images--a colorized SEM of microplankton
(see above)--is featured on the cover of the April 23rd edition of Science.
