Air Conditioning Engineers Visits Drexel
In November the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) members attended an exclusive reception and tour of the Drexel Plasma Institute (DPI), where currently, extensive research related to plasma and other modern high energy engineering techniques is conducted. Specifically, the DPI leads multi-institutional efforts to clean exhaust gases within paper and wood industries from dangerous volatile organic compounds. New special electric discharges were created to provide the effective air cleaning, including the most powerful in the world pulsed corona discharge especially mounted on a trailer to perform pilot tests at industrial sites. ASHRAE has supported Drexel in the past by giving scholarships to a Drexel Students each year in the ASHRAE club. Additionally, ASHRAE raises money for research initiatives. In fact, the organization donated over $ 550,000.00 this past year to Drexel, Penn State, and a few small research companies for Research.
