CoE News

The Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science sponsored a student/faculty networking event during the ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences (IDETC) Conference on Sunday, September 10, 2006.  More than 200 participants attended this event.

The highlight of the evening was a panel discussion on the topic of "Student's Role in Shaping the Future of American Engineering Education". The panelists included: Dr. Joseph Bordogna, Alfred Fitler Moore Professor of Engineering, The University of Pennsylvania; Dr. Stephen W. Director, Provost and Senior Vice President, Trustee Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Drexel University; Dr. Moshe Kam, Robert G. Quinn Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Drexel University and IEEE Vice President for Educational Activities.  Topics of discussion ranged from
globalization, information technology, and the inter-disciplinary nature of modern products and systems that are driving significant changes and removing old barriers.

This event also featured tours of the Drexel Autonomous Systems Laboratory (Dr. Paul Oh), Computer-Aided Tissue Engineering Laboratory (Dr. Wei Sun) and Protein Mechanis Laboratory (Dr. Brad Layton). 

This event was organized by Professor William Regli of the CS Department (Affiliated MEM Faculty).
