Dean Selçuk Güçeri kicked off the new academic year with a reception welcoming the engineering faculty, staff and students back to campus. At the Welcome Back Reception, new faculty members were introduced and welcomed to the team and new student fellowships were congratulated.

The student fellows that were recognized were the Koerner Fellows: Timothy Bertrand (CAEE), Jihean Lee (chemical), Jason Robinette (chemical), Mike Ermold (ECE), David Yoo (ECE), Joshua Houskamp (materials), and William Green (MEM). The GAANN Fellows: Mark Contarino (Biomed), Kevin Towles (chemical), Nicholas DeLuca (chemical), Angela Brown (chemical), Lauren Shor (MEM), Mohammad Uddin (MEM), Joseph Capobianco (materials), Matthew Cathell (materials), John Paul McGovern (materials), Donia Said El-Khamy (materials), and John Chmiola (materials). The NSF Fellows: Adam O'Donnell, Eric Gallo, Michael Foster, Maria Pia Rossi, Yelena Kushleyeva, Greg Tholey, Connie Gomez, and Bryan Wallace. The George Hill Jr. Endowed Fellowship: Jie Yu (ECE), Saif Khalil (MEM), and Emily Ho (materials). The Gates Millennium Scholar went to James Hing (MEM).
