Two CoE Students Receive NDSEG Fellowships for ’04-‘05

 

Two College of Engineering students have received prestigious National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships (NDSEG) for the 2004-05 academic year. Fellowship recipients will receive an average of $28,000 in stipends, full tuition and health insurance for three years, with the total award amount not to exceed $150,000 per student. This year, only 116 Fellows were selected from an applicant pool of over 1,500.

This year’s Drexel College of Engineering recipients were:

Second year Ph.D. student Michael Foster (MEM), who is studying under Dr. Howard Pearlman (MEM). His proposal was funded by the Army Research Office.

1st year Ph.D. student Alia Sabur (ECE), who is studying under Dean Selcuk Guceri. Her proposal was funded by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

The fellowships are available to U.S. Citizens pursuing Ph.D.s in the following fields:

• Chemistry
• Civil Engineering*
• Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences*
• Computer and Computational Sciences*
• Electrical Engineering*

• Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering
• Oceanography
• Physics*
