About the Award:

This award is presented annually by the College of Engineering to an individual who has demonstrated excellence in engineering and positively impacted society. The award is presented as a capstone event to our celebration of National Engineers Week (February 15-21, 2009). Now in our seventh year of the award, the college has honored a number of prominent members of the engineering field.

2003: Dr. George Law, Chief Designer, Lockheed Martin Corp.
2004: Dr. Stephen Squires, Vice President, Hewlett-Packard
2005: Dr. Mark Adler, Mars Mission Manager, NASA
2006: Dr. Robert Koerner, Geosynthetics Pioneer & NAE Member
2007: Mr. Dean Kamen, Inventor and Founder of FIRST
2008: Dr. Bernard Amadei, Founder of Engineers Without Borders

Who is Eligible for Nomination

• This is an international competition for individuals whose work has had significant impact on the field of engineering and society.
• Candidates for the award must be able to particpate in the 2009 Engineer of the Year Award Ceremony.
• This award is for an individual, rather than a group.

Selection Process

• Nominations are screened by a panel and selected based on the level of impact and the timeliness of their contribution.
