The Institutes research has primarily been supported by DRPA, NYCDOT, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, adn the Federal Highway Administration, among others.

Architectural Engineering
The AE program is actively involved with building infrastructure safety, energy efficiency, and infoor environment protection research projects. The AE faculty has successfully performed a series of energy-efficiency projects funded by the Department of Energy and the American Society of Heating, Ventilating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHREA). Drexel University is also funded by the NSF to perform the design and validation of novel indoor environment sensing system in conjunction with international collaborators.

Civil Engineering
The department has an active research program in environmental risk assessment. The department also plays a major role in the Center for the Advancement of Microbial Risk Assessment (CAMRA), a five year research consortium involving seven universities.Reserach includes dose-response model development for microbial risk assessments, assessment of public communication needs for bioterrorism events, and decision analytic approaches to identifying research priorities for risk management. There will also be involvement in policy analysis research.
