Dr. Mariadelaluz Matus-Mendoza

Dr. Mariadelaluz Matus-Mendoza, Sociolinguist and language Educator, currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of Culture and Communication at Drexel University. Her research interests lie generally in relating linguistic variation and movement as seen in migration and social movement. She is also interested in language in the media, Second Language acquisition and bilingualism. She has published in several national and international journals. Even though the role of gender is always present in her research, one of her most recent publications, “Gender Roles and the Variants of /r/” deals directly with the changing gender roles in a migrant community and how this is reflected in their language.
