Program Internship/Work-Study Opportunity

 

 

Women’s Campaign International (WCI) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to increasing the participation of women in democratic processes and civil society. WCI provides training and skills building to help women overcome the political, social and economic obstacles that limit their involvement in government and in assuming leadership positions throughout society.
Specifically:
*WCI provides training in campaign strategizing and planning for women who wish to run in their country’s local, regional or national elections.
*WCI provides training on advocacy for organizations that promote women’s rights and increased participation (of women) in democratic processes and civil society.
*WCI advocates for the incorporation of women within political party structures.
*WCI networks with other organizations to raise awareness and change attitudes with respect to advancing issues that impact women.

Currently, we have programs in Ethiopia, Malawi and Afghanistan.

Duties include but are not limited to:

*In-depth country research
*Assisting with program development and support
*Background research for potential future programs and partnerships
*Assistance with program proposals and grant writing
* Other writing and editing tasks as assigned
*General office assistance
*Participation in weekly staff meetings

Qualifications:
* Self-motivated
*Interest in and knowledge of gender issues, international relations, international development, and/or human rights
*Excellent written and oral communications skills,
*Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and internet usage
* Strong research skills, including internet research; ability to determine reliable sources
* Quick learner
* Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks
*Ability for work well independently and in a team setting
*Ability to maintain open lines of communication with WCI staff (ie, ask for clarification, obtain feedback)
* Culturally sensitive
*Good sense of humor
Preferred qualifications:
International travel experience, or experience living abroad
Knowledge of a particular region or particular developing countries

As WCI is a small organization, interns will have the opportunity to be deeply involved in all aspects of program development and management.

Hours are flexible, but intern must commit at least 15 hrs/week for a minimum of 12 weeks. Longer commitments preferred. There is a possibility of receiving Work-Study Compensation
