FREE WEIGHT LOSS TREATMENT PROGRAM

Drexel University offers a free behavioral weight loss treatment as part of a research study for adults (between 18 and 65), approximately 30 pounds or more above the weight which would be medically desirable for you.

This study is designed to help you reach and maintain a more medically desirable body weight.  Achieving this goal may also improve certain medical conditions associated with being overweight (e.g., high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis).

You may be eligible if:

· You are age 18 or older

· You are fluent in English

· You have a body mass index (BMI) of 25 kg/m2 higher

· You agree not to join another weight loss program for 24 months

Please note, you are not eligible if:

· You are currently taking a medication or have a medical/psychiatric problem known to cause weight loss or weight gain (unless medication is long-term and dosage is unchanging, such as Synthroid)

· You have a medical or psychiatric condition that limits your ability to comply with the program's behavioral recommendations (including physical activity)

· You currently have an eating disorder or have had one in the past 10 years.

· You are lactating, pregnant, or planning to become pregnant in the next two years.

· You are planning to move out of the greater Philadelphia area in the next 2 years.
