Subject: Procedures for Recruitment, Data Collection, and use of Sona Systems for Researchers Recruiting from the Undergraduate Population
Date: March 17, 2008
Dear Faculty and Graduate Students:
At the beginning of the spring term, we will again be making Sona Systems available to faculty and graduate students to recruit participants and collect data. Students in General Psychology I (Psy 101) will be able to sign up for research studies online and receive extra credit unless the professor has chosen to opt-out of this system. Other professors teaching undergraduate psychology courses other than Intro are invited to participate in this program as well.
We ask that any student or faculty member planning to recruit from any undergraduate classroom in the Spring Term, regardless of the way you have gone about recruiting in the past, please contact Sapna Doshi (sdd27@drexel.edu ) to discuss the following:
- What classes you are planning to recruit from
- If these classes are using Sona Systems, how to provide extra credit so that professors get one centralized list by course and section number at the end of the term.
- If these classes are using Sona Systems, what instructions you need to be prepared to provide to students.
- How you can advertise your study through Sona, use it as a way to schedule participants to come in and meet you, use it to link participants to an already existing online survey through Sona Systems, or use it to collect data through Sona Systems by setting up an online study.
