College Seeks Director of Psychology Clinic

November 15, 2012 — Drexel University’s internationally-renowned Ph.D. Program in Clinical Psychology (ranked #7 nationally in per capita research productivity by the Chronicle of Higher Education) is opening a Psychology Clinic for which it seeks a Director.  The Director will hold a full-time (non-tenure track) faculty appointment in the Department of Psychology, and will oversee a staff initially consisting of the Director, trainees, and an administrative assistant, and which may expand to include an Assistant Director in the future.

The Director will be primarily responsible for the administrative, clinical training, and supervisory duties associated with the Clinic.  The Clinic’s mission will be to train doctoral students in the Clinical Psychology Program and to provide state-of-the-art, evidence-based psychological services to children, adolescents, adults and families in the Greater Philadelphia Metropolitan area, including neuropsychological, psychoeducational, personality, and forensic evaluations; individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy; and short-term behavioral health consultation.

The Clinic will also host several of the faculty-led clinical research programs based in the Department of Psychology, and collaborative research opportunities are possible. The Director will be responsible for interviewing, training, supervising and evaluating trainees drawn from the Clinical Psychology program, including supervising peer-supervision by trainees; the Director will share supervision of trainees with departmental clinical faculty.  In addition, the Director will be responsible for the design, implementation, strategic planning, and evaluation of the Clinic’s behavioral health services.  The Director will provide direct clinical services, will manage the Clinic’s budget, and will report to the Head of the Department of Psychology.  The Director will also have the opportunity to teach within the department.

The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in the provision and training of evidence-based, cognitive and behavioral psychological services, knowledge of the profession’s consensus regarding beginning and advanced pre-internship competencies; supervision and leadership experience; and exemplary communication and organizational skills.  The Director must be licensed or license-eligible in Pennsylvania.
