Chemistry Seminar: Collins Catalysts: Real-World Viable Oxidation Enzyme Mimicry
Thursday, October 27, 2016
4:30 PM-6:00 PM
Terrence Collins, PhD,

"Collins Catalysts: Real-World Viable Oxidation Enzyme Mimicry"
The design and mechanisms of action of full-function, small molecule peroxidase mimics that outperform the enzymes will be described. Evidence will be presented for real-world applicability in some of the most challenging global tasks confronting sustainable chemistry. The case will be made that the new field of catalysis under ultra-dilute conditions, has been opened where the catalyst and substrate are present in water in low parts per billion and the oxidant in low parts per million.
