There are two (2) Mathematics examinations, the Calculus Readiness examination and the Math Placement examination. Nursing students are not required to take these examinations.
The examinations are based on topics which you have covered in your high school courses; there are no sample questions available.
You are allowed one (1) hour to complete your mathematics examination. You may use a calculator, however it is important that you complete this test on your own so that your advisor is provided a true understanding of your academic preparation.
If you are majoring in a science or technological major, you will take the Calculus Readiness examination. There are 25 questions on this examination and the following topics are covered:
- Geometry and Measurement
- Graphs of Functions
- Word Problems, Mathematical Modeling
- Concept Formulation
- Numerical Awareness
- Exponential Functions
- Exponents and Logarithms
- Equations and Factoring
- Functional Notation
- Inequalities, Absolute Value
- Trigonometry
If you are majoring in a non-technical major, you will take the Math Placement examination. There are 32 questions on this examination and the following topics are covered:
- Arithmetic of Rational Numbers
- Operations with Algebraic Expressions
- Factoring and Algebraic Fractions
- Exponents and Radicals
- Linear Equations and Inequalities
- Graphing
- Quadratic Equations and Inequalities
- Functions
- Logarithms
- Absolute Values

- Estimation and Approximation
