The Drexel Writing Center
Working on a writing project? The Drexel Writing Center offers all students free tutoring by experienced faculty members.
It doesn't matter whether you are struggling to develop a rough draft or trying to put the finishing touches on a well-developed paper--writing tutors will help you evaluate your own writing and determine how to improve it according to your purpose (what you aim to accomplish in your writing) and your audience (who you are writing to or for).
Meeting with a tutor can help you:
- Develop your thesis or purpose for your writing
- Understand how your audience affects choices you make as a writer
- Add content or evidence to develop your ideas
- Evaluate and improve the organization or structure of your writing
- Apply conventions of formatting and documentation
- Consider the effect of grammatical/syntactical patterns in your writing
- Work on a group project that involves writing (from brainstorming until completion)
Appointments for the Writing Center can be made online by accessing the Writing Center's WCOnline scheduling system. The first time you access WCOnline, you'll be asked to register an account. Once you have an account, you can use WCOnline to view our tutoring schedules and reserve appointments in advance. You are also welcome to drop the the Writing Center to see if a tutor is available, but making an appointment is the only way to guarantee that you will be seen. Individuals should only sign up for slots of 1/2 hour; groups of two or more may sign up for one hour slots. If you wish to meet with a tutor via a synchronous online tutoring session, please access WCOnline and make an appointment for an available online slot.
