The Criminal Justice Award and the Criminal Justice Honor Society
The Criminal Justice Award
The Criminal Justice Award is given to honor the late-Judge William Francis Hall and his commitment to the criminal justice community and promoting justice. Judge Hall served on the bench of the 3rd Circuit Federal Judicial District Court in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania .
The award is conferred annually during the spring term at Drexel University 's College of Arts and Science Honors Day. All criminal justice majors in their junior or senior year who have a 3.0 or better GPA are encouraged to apply. Applicants are judged on their academic record and service experience. Service experience includes meritorious volunteer or internship service in a criminal justice agency or in the interest of the community.
The application deadline for the 2005-2006 academic-year is April 14, 2006.

Application materials include:
- An academic transcript containing the applicant's grades through the winter 2004-2005 term (an unofficial transcript will suffice).
- A personal statement describing the applicant's past service experience.
- A minimum of one letter of recommendation documenting the applicant's service experience. Letters should be written by someone who directly supervised the applicant during a past service experience.

The National Criminal Justice Honor Society
The National Criminal Justice Honor Society was founded in 1942 by Dr. Vivian Anderson Leonard at Washington State University to promote excellence in scholarship for the criminal justice discipline. In 1978, the Honor Society was recognized by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences as the official honor society for the criminal justice discipline and has since been granted membership into the Association of College Honor Societies.
Established in the summer of 2005, the Drexel University chapter of the National Criminal Justice Honor Society seeks to promote academic excellence, scientific advancement, leadership, and service in criminal justice in order to increase the effectiveness of the criminal justice system.
The requirements for membership in the National Criminal Justice Honor Society are:
- A declared major or minor in criminal justice
- A 3.0 or better cumulative GPA (beginning January 1, 2006 a 3.2 or better cumulative GPA is required)
- A 3.2 or better GPA in criminal justice courses
- Successful completion of at least four criminal justice courses
