  Research Focus

My research interests center on how photosynthetic organisms sense and respond to environmental cues. I am particularly interested in the molecular mechanisms that regulate gene expression in cyanobacteria, and the environmental factors that cause these changes.
I am also active in innovating the use and application of molecular biological tools to answer questions in food microbiology and environmental biology.

Specifically, my research program focuses on the following:

  • Gene Expression and adaptation to environmental cues in cyanobacteria
  • Molecular Mechanisms in the Regulation of Photosynthesis
  • Use of molecular and microbiological techniques to assess food safety
  • Use of molecular biological tools to predict and evaluate environmental damage
