You will be working closely with one of the Assistant Deans throughout your time at Drexel. It is important that you find out which of the assistant deans works with students in your major and get to know that person. The areas of advisement that the dean's office advisors specialize in are the following: Academic policy and procedure, scheduling, degree requirements, academic possibilities (majors, minors, double majors, dual degrees, B.S./M.S., choosing appropriate electives), Banner issues and problems, personal problems, academic difficulties, and crisis management. The assistant deans act as a liaison between you and the academic departments, Co-op office, Comptrollers office, Financial Aid office, and SRC in order to resolve any problems or concerns you may have. All Drop/Add, Change of Major, Declaration of Minor, Enrichment, and Credit/ No Credit forms must be signed off on by an advisor in the Dean's office. The Dean's office Advisors also specialize in aiding new freshmen and transfer students in their adjustment to the university and act as student advocate and represent your needs in college and university forums. Our administrative secretaries, Velma and Marion, are happy to schedule you an appointment with your Dean's office advisor. |
