Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences: For International Students

We have had international students in each of our programs and want to assist you in every way possible as you determine which of Drexel University’s physical therapy programs best fits your educational and career goals.

The first thing to consider is whether you are interested in a clinical degree or a research degree.  If you are interested in a research degree, please consider the PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences program.  If you are interested in a clinical degree, we encourage you to pursue the Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy program.  Let me tell you about each of these programs.

PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences

This is a research degree designed for those who desire to become faculty or conduct research.  For more information on the program see: http://www.drexel.edu/cnhp/rehab_sciences/drphil_about.asp Application requirements can also be found through the “Admission Requirements” link on that page.  Concerning financial support, we frequently offer partial financial aid for qualified applicants to serve as graduate assistants.  In order to determine if you qualify, you must first apply.

Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy

This is a post-baccalaureate program.  This is a post-baccalaureate program.  It prepares students to take the licensure exam and it is the current gateway to the profession of physical therapy in the U.S. In fact, 100% of students who have completed Drexel University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program have passed the licensure exam.  Graduates from our program are very comfortable with the requirements of today’s Physical Therapist, including conducting a differential diagnosis exam and functioning as an independent practitioner. For more information on the program see: http://www.drexel.edu/cnhp/rehab_sciences/dpt_about.asp  Application requirements can also be found through the “Admission Requirements” link on that page.  Financial aid is available.  Dean’s scholarships are also offered on a competitive basis to qualified students.
