Physical
Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences: Professional DPT Program Curriculum
Curriculum
The
DPT curriculum is a combination of didactic work that is reinforced
with a variety of clinical experiences to prepare the student for
successful clinical practice in a multitude of health care settings.
Students are exposed early in the curriculum to clinical experiences
both with the faculty from the program as well as clinical mentors
across the country. Specific courses within our curriculum make
use of our two faculty practice sites (Intercollegiate Athletics
at Drexel University and the 11th Street Family Health Center) and
our affiliation with local heath care organizations (Magee Rehabilitation
Hospital, Hahnemann Hospital, United Cerebral Palsy, as well as
others) to help bring practical experience to lectures and labs.
In addition to those experiences, students spend 38 weeks engaged
in clinical internships both locally and at locations all over the
nation. Overall, students leave our program ready to become successful
clinicians in the health care environment.

BS/DPT
For
high school students who have an interest in physical therapy, Drexel
University offers a BS/DPT program. In this program, students complete
their undergraduate requirements as part of the Pathways to Health
Professions Program. During their fourth year, the student will
begin their graduate work in the DPT program. After a combined 5 1/2 years, the student will receive their BS degree in Health Sciences
