Nursing: BSN to MSN Early Assurance Program

Criteria

Admission

ACE: After the 3rd quarter

Co-op: Quarter prior to senior year courses (before application deadlines)

GPA

ACE: GPA of 3.25 and /or top 50% of class . Must maintain GPA through graduation

Co-op: GPA of 3.25 and top 50% of class if data available. Must maintain  GPA through graduation.
Interview Required with respective Track Coordinator

ACE: Admission contingent on the satisfactory review of 3 or 4 clinical evaluations and 2 faculty references

RN License Students must graduate with a BSN and pass NCLEX
Work Experience Students are expected to work in an RN position; full time or part time while taking the CORE and SUPPORT courses

* After admission to the NP tracks, a student may take the core and support courses while gaining professional experience, but can not begin the NP clinical courses until the minimum number of hours of professional nursing experience has been completed.

Women’s Health NP

  • 1 yr minimum with at least 1800 hours in pediatric nursing in medical/surgical or women’s care nursing

Co-op: After the 3rd Year (4 year program) or 4th Year (5 year program)

RN/BSN: After 75% of RN/BSN coursework is completed
GPA

ACE: Top 10% class ranking could qualify with combined GRE 1000; top 15% combined GRE 1100

Co-op: Top 10% class ranking could qualify with combined GRE 1000; top 15% combined GRE 1100

RN/BSN – GPA of 3.5 or higher and combined GRE 1000

Curriculum Vitae Required
Personal statement

A 2-3 page written statement on: A) why you want to pursue the Drexel Doctor of Nursing Practice Program; B) what clinical nursing phenomena are you most interested in; and C) why you have selected the specific track (Educator, Practitioner, Clinical Executive or Clinical Scientist). You do not have to do the other essay on the online application.

An additional writing sample is required – preferably a previously graded writing assignment.
Interview Finalists will be invited for an on campus interview
References

Three recommendations: two from previous nursing faculty and one employer attesting to your potential to pursue doctoral study

RN License Students must graduate with a  BSN and pass NCLEX prior to matriculation in the doctoral program
Work Experience At least two years of full-time clinical experience is preferred at the time of application, although each applicant's clinical experience will be evaluated individually.
Other Items
  • An undergraduate statistics course is required.
  • The Drexel Online application for the DrNP program must be completed.
