Nursing:
BSN Co-op
B.S.
in Nursing - The Co-op Experience
The
BSN Co-op Program is a 4 or 5-year generic nursing program that prepares
graduates for licensure as Registered Nurses. Our program includes innovative courses and learning experiences which provide the knowledge and skills students will need for success as professional nurses
in the rapidly changing, increasingly technological, and evidence-driven
health care environment of today.
Students
integrate science, humanities, nursing knowledge and nursing skills
through experiences in the Clinical Learning Resource Center and Center for Interdisciplinary Clinical Simulation and Practice, through
classroom and clinical experiences in all nursing specialties, as
well as through integrated co-operative employment opportunities
in health care and nursing settings. Clinical experiences allow
students to have faculty-guided experiences caring for patients
across the lifespan and the health continuum. Co-operative experiences
enhance student exposure to nursing and patient care, while providing
opportunities for paid employment and professional growth.
An accelerated BSN/MSN dual degree option is available for students with combined critical reading and math SAT scores of 1200 or higher and high school GPA’s of 3.25 or higher. Students in the BSN/MSN program take all BSN requirements as well as some MSN core courses during the first four years of the nursing program. They finish the BSN requirements after 4 years of study and complete MSN requirements in the 5th year of the program.
Our
program emphasizes informatics, technology, evidence-based practice,
and preparation for the NCLEX, the RN licensure examination, in
an environment of intellectual challenge and professional mentorship.
