Nursing: ACE Program Criteria

Application Checklist

  • Undergraduate Transfer Application – Apply online to waive the $75 application fee  (www.drexel.edu/apply)
  • Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities.  If you are an international student, the University requires a course-by-course evaluation of all courses/degrees completed outside of the United States.
  • TOEFL score, if applicable. 

TOEFL Policy for Drexel University’s College of Nursing & Health Professions

Applicants born outside of the United States (International applicants, Immigrants to the United States, and U.S. Permanent Residents) are required to take the TOEFL examination.

Passing test scores include:

  • TOEFL iBT – Minimum combined score of 79 AND a 26 score or higher in the speaking section.
  • TOEFL paper-based exam – Total score of 550 AND the Test of Spoken English (TSE) exam with a minimum score of 55.

Applicants can be waived from the TOEFL if the following apply:

  1. Applicant was born on a U.S. military base.
  2. Applicant completed four years of high school AND has a high school degree from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, or Canada

In the instance that the applicant does not meet scenario 1 or 2, the TOEFL requirement must be completed.

In order for your application to be considered for admission, we require an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 from your previous degree (or a 3.0 in the last 60 credits that you completed – this can include pre-requisites courses taken after you received your other bachelor’s degree). Also, students are required to take prerequisite courses before matriculating in the ACE Program. The University grants advanced credit for courses completed at regionally accredited colleges and universities. We may also grant credit for courses from colleges that are recognized candidates for accreditation (according to the Association of College and Schools/Commission on Higher Education) or if they are substantially equivalent to courses offered in the desired major at Drexel University.

The following prerequisite courses must be completed at least two months before you begin the program.  You should at least 7 of your pre-requisites completed by the time you apply (including at least 1 science prerequisite).

Transcripts are NOT evaluated until you have been accepted as an ACE student.
 You must earn a grade of “C” or higher for the credits to transfer.

  • English (Composition) - 3 semester credits
  • English (Literature) - 3 semester credits
  • Chemistry with lab - 4 semester credits
  • Introductory Sociology - 3 semester credits
  • Introductory Psychology - 3 semester credits
  • Developmental Psychology - 3 semester credits
  • Anatomy with lab* - 4 semester credits
  • Physiology with lab* - 4 semester credits
  • Microbiology with lab* - 4 semester credits
  • Ethics (Introductory Ethics, Bioethics, or Medical Ethics) - 3 semester credits
  • Computer Applications/Public Speaking/Communication Elective - 3 semester credits
  • Human Nutrition - 3 semester credits
  • Statistics – 3 semester credits

* Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology must be taken within the 5 years prior to enrollment in the ACE program.

** We do not waive or substitute courses for students.

You can take the prerequisite courses at any accredited university or community college.  Online courses can be accepted if they are through an accredited college or university.

Readmission Policy

If a student is dismissed from the ACE BSN program, an application for readmission may be sent to the Program Director.  The Program Director will forward the application to the BSN Admissions Committee.   Upon review of the student’s application, a recommendation will be made to the Program Director.  The Program Director will notify the student of the final decision.
