MSN in Nurse Anesthesia
The MSN in nurse anesthesia is a 27-month, 89 quarter credit, full-time program The program offers 15 theoretical nursing component quarter credits and 3 quarter credit research component, 15 quarter credit basic science component a 31 quarter credit didactic anesthesia component and a 25 credit clinical component. Upon successful completion of the programmatic outcomes and successful completion of a comprehensive examination, the student is awarded an MSN in nurse anesthesia and is eligible to take the national certification examination offered by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.

All didactic and research-related coursework is taught at Drexel University’s Center City campus in Philadelphia, PA, or via a teleconferencing program
for those students located in central Pennsylvania. The nurse anesthesia clinical practicum is obtained at one of several sites located in the tri-state area.
Additional clinical subspecialty rotations provide pediatric, obstetric cardiac and neurosurgical clinical experience. Students administer a minimum of 650
anesthetics for a variety of surgical and diagnostic procedures and average over 1500 clinical hours.
The Nurse Anesthesia program utilizes a rolling admission process, with interviews being conducted throughout the year. Candidates who are accepted into the program need to contact the academic advisor if planning on taking core or support courses prior to the start of the program.
The Master of Science in Nursing programs prepare leaders in advanced practice roles. Nurses in advanced practice are professionals committed to delivering and improving high-quality service while shaping the health care system of the future. Courses from nursing and other disciplines provide advanced theoretical knowledge, assessment skills, role and leadership development, and the opportunity to critique and apply nursing theory and research as a scientific base for outcome based nursing practice.
