MSN Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care across the continuum of health care services to meet the specialized physiologic needs of patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health care conditions. The MSN Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at Drexel University program provides the knowledge and skills needed to improve and sustain the health of acutely ill patients in medical, surgical, and critical care populations. Emphasis is placed upon diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision making.
The program is designed to prepare Acute Care Nurse Practitioners for roles as clinicians, educators, researchers, and leaders in a collaborative multidisciplinary health care environment.
Upon completion of the program students are eligible for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center
Key Program Features:
- Clinically current faculty.
- Two on campus Residency Visit with simulated clinical learning experiences conducted in our new state of the art Multidisciplinary Patient Simulation Lab.
- The Advanced Physical Assessment course is offered as an on-line course with an on-campus component. Students are required to come to campus twice during the course: once for a midterm assessment and evaluation, and again at the end of the course for a final re-demonstration of clinical assessment skills. The end of the course visit is scheduled during the required NP Summer Residency Visit.

This is a 55 credit graduate program. It is designed for part-time attendance by working nurses. A total of 640 clinical hours are completed in the last year of the program. The four clinical practicum courses require two 8 hour clinical days per week.
