Dr. Stella Volpe Elected Vice President of World’s Largest Sports Medicine and Exercise Science Organization

Philadelphia, PA, August 29, 2012 — Nutrition Sciences Department Chair Dr. Stella Volpe was elected Vice President of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and started in the leadership role in June 2012 at the conclusion of ACSM’s Annual Scientific Conference. With more than 45,000 members around the globe, ACSM is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. Dr. Volpe was elected to her position by the entire membership. “I was happy to be elected Vice President of the American College of Sports Medicine, the premier sports medicine scientific organization in the world. ACSM is forward-thinking and focuses on both clinical and translational research in exercise physiology, nutrition, and sports medicine,” Dr. Volpe said. She has been a member of ACSM since she was an undergraduate student in 1985.
