Health Services Administration Saturday Scholars Degree Completion Program

About the Program:

The Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration (HSAD) Saturday Scholars Program incorporates a comprehensive, career-focused curriculum that effectively prepares students to begin making significant contributions to the growing field of health care administration. This part-time, accelerated program allows students to receive their degree in 2 years by taking courses only on Saturdays. The HSAD program prepares students for immediate employment in the ever-expanding health care sector.

*According to the U.S. Department of Labor, health care will generate 3 million new wage and salary jobs through 2016, more than any other industry. Seven of the twenty fastest growing occupations are health care related.

The HSAD core curriculum focuses on the business aspects of health care and gives students a foundation in the general management and economic principles and policies integral to the health care field.  Electives are interdisciplinary in nature and focus on the humanistic side of the industry.

Curriculum:

All HSAD courses are 3-credit courses and are taught in accelerated, six-week formats.  Courses are held from 8 to 11:50 a.m. and/or 1 to 4:50 p.m. every Saturday.  Two six-week sessions occur during each of four academic quarters (fall, winter, spring, and summer) throughout the year.  Therefore, a student may complete eight six-week sessions per year, taking 6 credits per six-week session or 12 credits per quarter, for a total of 48 quarter credits per year.  Students must complete a total of 180 quarter credits (through a combination of their Drexel credits and their transfer credits) to graduate with the Bachelor of Science degree.

Admission Requirements:

The HSAD Saturday Scholars program operates on a quarter-term system, rather than a semester system.  Most students who begin the program will have completed at least 60 college level semester credits, with a minimum acceptable grade point average of 2.50.  Semester credits which are transferred to Drexel University from other institutions are converted to quarter credits by multiplying the total number of semester credits by 1.5 (60 semester credits is equivalent to 90 quarter credits).   Students may begin the HSAD program by transferring as few as 24 semester credits.  Students who enter the HSAD program lacking some of their general education transfer credits are able to complete those credits while they are enrolled in the HSAD program.

The HSAD Saturday Scholars program is an affordable way to receive your undergraduate degree.  Saturday Scholars students pay Drexel University's part-time tuition rate.  Visit the Admissions website for updated tuition and fee information.
