Patricia Dunphy Suplee is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of Special Projects in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. She is the former Director of Baccalaureate Nursing Programs at Drexel University. Dr. Suplee received her BSN from Indiana University in Indiana, an MSN from the University of Pennsylvania with a primary focus in perinatal nursing, and her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Suplee has over 20 years experience caring for women during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods of their pregnancies. She has participated in international clinical work to improve maternal-infant outcomes with the American International Health Alliance and has presented at local and national conferences on topics such as complications of pregnancy, smoking relapse, empowerment and mentorship of students and faculty and nursing education. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and is on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Obstetrical and Neonatal Nursing. Her research interests include nursing education outcomes, curriculum development & enhancement, and childbearing in women of advanced maternal age.

Dr. Suplee has been the recipient of several awards including the prestigious Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching from Drexel University and the Provost Award for Distinguished Teaching and the Faculty Teaching Award from the University of Pennsylvania. She received the Nursing Excellence Award from the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and a research award from Sigma Theta Tau for her study on Smoking Relapse in the Postpartum Period. She has also been named to Who’s Who in American Nursing and Who’s Who in Health Sciences Education.
