Spencer R. Ward, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Health Sciences and Health Administration, holds a B.A. degree from New York University and a M.A. and Ph.D. from the Counseling Psychology Department of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Prior to joining the Drexel faculty in 2009, Dr. Ward pursued a diverse career in teaching, health care services administration and direct clinical care. He has taught psychology and management at the graduate, college and community college levels, as well as providing leadership, mentoring and supervisory training in the corporate health care sector. His research has on the use of behavioral techniques to reduce performance anxiety, improve the knowledge acquisition process and promote distant-learning models.
Dr. Ward has twenty years of experience administering health care programs, particularly within the managed care insurance industry. He has held a variety of director and VP positions in the public and private sectors, worked as a consultant and served for than 14 years as a clinician in hospitals and community settings, much of which focused on the rehabilitation and community re-integration of consumers with psychiatric disabilities.
