Dr. MacFadyen has more than 27 years of experience teaching nursing in the classroom and clinical setting. For the last 18 years, she has been actively involved in gerontological nursing, with experience as a charge nurse in skilled nursing facilities, adjunct faculty member for Drexel University, and Board member and President of the Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatrics Society in 2004. Previously, Dr. MacFadyen worked for the E. I. DuPont de Nemours & Company in Wilmington, DE, where she spent 13 years in new business development, mostly with health care related businesses. She is an entrepreneur, starting her own business teaching older adults how to use computers in 1996. Currently she writes a column on innovation for Holistic Nursing Practice. Dr. MacFadyen is a Trustee of Cairn University, Langhorne, PA and is a member of their Academic Standards Committee. Her business, volunteer and personal travels have taken her around the world. Her undergraduate education was obtained from Wheaton College (IL – BA, sociology) and Columbia University (NY-BSN, nursing). Both her MSEd. and Ph.D. (higher education administration) are from the University of Pennsylvania.
